Note on Sunday; (Blessing in disguise)
(A lengthy one from me to you this Sunday)
Blessing in
disguise? Used to describe seeming ills or unfortunate scenarios, that later results in something good
happening, or a blessing later.
I’d been
on this planet some decades enough to
learn from first hand instances of blessing in
disguise. Like when people get fired, later
became successful entrepreneurs of Companies
that beats that of their erstwhile employers. If they weren’t laid off might have retired a
mere employee, maybe not too broke, but not wealthy either.
If
no other instance but Oprah Winfrey. She was fired
from her first job as an Anchor, snapped
at by the Producer that she was;
“Unfit for Television News”.
Here’s a
woman whose present Net Worth is over Two
Billion Dollars, also the owner of probably the biggest talk show in the World.
I’d also heard of tenants supposedly ejected, life
being a funny twist and they became owners to apartments rented by their once upon a time landlord.
The Founder of Ijamido Childrens’ Home in Ota,
Ogun State-Nigeria never had biological
kids. Not bothered about her state of being childless, she cared for over Six
Hundred Motherless Kids in her lifetime. And despite the fact that a lot of
women who had biological children of their own had been clearly forgotten with
time, even by their own lineage, Mama Willoughby’s name
and efforts remained on the lips of everyone as the founder of the only Orphanage in this part of the world, that never gave
out Children for adoption. (They are
trained into adulthood to become functioning members of the society instead)
Antagonists and adversaries alike are another example of god-sent blessings in
disguise.
Considering biblical examples:
Joseph
His destiny was for him to be in prison where he would meet the King’s Baker, who in turn would
introduce him to Pharaoh-his Destiny helper.
This was how he
journeyed:
What
Joseph
was to become was revealed to him via a dream in Gen 37;5-7. He was meant to tell his brother in verse 8 who in turn had
to despise him so that they could chase him off his comfort zone (his father’s house), by selling him closer to the town
where his destiny would be fulfilled. (Verse 18-28) The act of lusting after Joseph by Potiphar’s wife was in continuation of
God’s plan. If he had committed that sexual
sin, he might have stayed longer in that household as he would be comfortable
in the arms of his boss’s wife.
Chances are that he might not get to the promised
land, he could even be caught in the act and subsequently killed. Either way, sin takes us farther away from
God’s plan.
The king’s butler and Baker had to err
for his sake to meet him up in prison. The duo dreamt, so that his talent as a dream interpreter would come to fore too. Gen 40;1-23.
And finally, Pharaoh’s dream brought him to
where he rightly belonged.
Joseph’s brothers,
Potiphar’s wife,
the king’s butler
and baker
Were all blessings in disguise, so are foes and adversaries in our lives
today.
Jesus
Greed was the reason why Judas betrayed Jesus and
thereafter revealed him to his enemies. An action he regretted evidently from
the suicide.
But hey!
The deed had been done. His action towards Jesus was needed to fulfill the mission of the fact that Christ has to be
caught, crucified on the cross so that he could die for our sins.
And in present
day experiences;
I have folks missed
death via a plane crash, just because they missed their flight.
And a friend
was once turned down at a job interview
that would have paid him less than five
hundred dollars, monthly. Totally dejected, same day he got the boots at
the interview sessions he simply loosened
his tie to branch by a bar to watch his favorite Football Team.
His dexterity at analyzing football
matches caught the attention of a man seated nearby. They discussed mostly
about football since they seemed to have a liking for the same club, and about
a few other issues too, like the fact that he was unable to secure a supposedly
good job earlier that day.
His new friend thereafter invited him to his
office next day for ‘further friendly
chat’, if only he would come along with his resume. It happened he had been chatting with the Head of Human Resources of a blue chip
company that offered him a job of two
thousand dollars monthly. Blessing in
disguise,
Another life experience that people do not
always see as a blessing in
disguise is Relationship issues. Ladies
especially take to heart way too much when they get dumped. Some too emotional females sometimes
attempts suicide and I see that as laughable. Some men are meant to introduce
you to what would attract you to your God sent partners. So no need brooding
over a fore-runner.
Relationship failures should be an avenue for
us to chose better partners than those
that left us/or that we left behind. They should be a benchmark for us
never to consider settling for lesser options.
So as you journey into a new week, if there’s
any ill
life has supposedly thrown, leverage on it as the tool to get to the promised
land.
I
pray the Lord turns every of our life disappointment to another great story of blessings in disguise
in Jesus name.
Happy Sunday,
Happy Easter,
Christ died
for our sins so that we may be saved.
