Unappreciation

Image
This is plainly not showing gratitude. Synonyms however includes; ingrate, thankless and ungrateful. While the relative words are; rude, thoughtless and simply ungracious. My emphasis goes all out to people who had enjoyed any form of assistance from the other person at one point in their life.  How well has the helper been appreciated by you? Sparingly, or never at all?  Many even had the effrontery to completely   chop off   the fingers that fed them.   How sad! To the popular saying;   many dogs that lay helpless by the roadside are actually looking for food, so they could bite after being fed. No truer words! Posterity says that no form of assistance should be considered   erstwhile.   And why on earth should we forget that   one person   who was there when we needed succor? Think about it! And even when you put it to the ungrateful like; “But s/he lent you cash for your business start up” ...

My 'two cents' on the state of Nigeria

Image
There is a   seasoned journalist of over three decades experience that I know, his name is   Samuel Ajayi . He is one writer I admire and how he manages to constantly write on the   State of Nigeria   still amazes me. With   no conflicting yet   unflinching  headlines every other day on his   face book   timeline.  Unlike him, I often consider this a   frustrating   thing to ponder on   for too long, I  see no reason why I should bother over what seems to have no immediate lasting solution. But as   Nigeria   goes to the polls yet again, I have to drop   this   on what I feel about   her. R outinely, we com plain about   incumbent leaders  just because they have not been able to satisfy the needs of the masses. And in almost all the sectors in the Country, there’s always a   glaring inadequacy   staring us right there in the face. The   Healt...

New year again: Happy 2019

Image
Like I wasn’t totally aware,   2019   came somehow too quickly. The   glee is finally over  and for many of us, work starts tomorrow. #sadface On a day like this, I always wished I was in the   teaching profession.   Up until seventh of January is enough rest days already. #smiles To those that became indebted just because they wanted to impress people this yuletide, I say:    “huge debt installments stares at you in the new year”. Lol   Need no one to reiterate anymore to cut your clothe according to the available yard. So learn subsequently. Anyways, resolutions have been made; stick to them. But be sure that they are beneficial to you and mankind alike.  Now to a recent menace called Depression, people who suffer from it are said to be prone to  committing suicide. #not so fast please.  Meanwhile, there's no problem devoid of a valid solution, let the depressed take solace in ...

Antidote to body shaming

Image
Body shaming according to google’s definition;                          “The action or practice of humiliating someone, by making mocking or critical comments about their body shape or size” I read loads of article available about  body-shaming , and on those I could lay my hands on, non made much emphasizes on the  antidote .   Most of the points therein however was directed towards cautioning and educating the public on the topic. Oher write ups advised victims to stay confident, like  it was one easy thing to do in the face of unending shaming.  Truth be told, as long as some people remains alien to how badly the shoe of body shaming pinches their victims, the jest, boos, shaming etc,  they'd never stop. So there's a need for the antidote as I've rightly put to fore in this article. Well as  weird  as t...

Death is inevitable

Image
Cemeteries  are not grocery stores, meant to be sited very commonly. So passing by one recently, I noticed an  inscription  on its gate which struck me; ‘We were once like you’ And then subtly, I had replied; We are  definitely  going to be like you too. Maybe not now, but eventually. Not wanting to sound like a preacher now, the bible says,  “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom”  Psalm 90;12. This is like an eye opener of sort. Regularly, we all should be conscious of the fact that our days are numbered on this planet. It doesn’t matter if you live twenty decades, calculating it into days is not too hard a Mathematics. And as it ever occurred to you that as soon as anyone breathes his last, all which is left is nothing but  memories?  The  corpse , a mass of lifeless flesh, becomes a waste, to be subsequently buried. Save for science anyway, certain parts of  the dead...

SPECIAL FEATURE: A unique Orphanage - Ijamido Children's Home

Image
Sometimes in  2009  fresh from the University, I wanted an  adventure  to burn some youthful energy. Getting closer to  Priscilla Awe Olajumoke availed me that opportunity .  She was one of the Media Volunteers of  Ijamido Children Home  as at that time and through her, I got to know about this uniquely different Orphanage,  Ijamido Children’s Home s ituated at  147, Ilo-Awela Road, Toll Gate Bus Stop, Ota, Ogun State . The warm embrace of smiling kids greeted me the first day I sauntered into the entrance.  Some called me  “aunty”,  others simply said  “mummy”.  This was despite the fact that we were meeting for the very first time. My heart melted at that and even though I never really  volunteered  owing to some unforeseen circumstances, I have always sought to know more.    Ijamido Orphanage  fondly referred to by her lovers as  ‘The Home’,  is a...
