Death is inevitable
Cemeteries are not grocery stores, meant to be sited very commonly. So passing by one recently, I noticed an inscription on its gate which struck me;
‘We were once like you’
And then subtly, I had replied;
We are definitely going to be like you too.
Maybe not now, but eventually.
Not wanting to sound like a preacher now, the bible says, “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom” Psalm 90;12. This is like an eye opener of sort. Regularly, we all should be conscious of the fact that our days are numbered on this planet. It doesn’t matter if you live twenty decades, calculating it into days is not too hard a Mathematics.
And as it ever occurred to you that as soon as anyone breathes his last, all which is left is nothing but memories? The corpse, a mass of lifeless flesh, becomes a waste, to be subsequently buried. Save for science anyway, certain parts of the dead are being used for medical purposes. Like;
· The graft in the eyes of a recently dead individual with no known diseases. Useful for major eye surgeries.
· Hearts and kidneys of brain-dead patient evacuated and preserved, for use to save the life of another with a high chance of survival.
Other useful body parts of a cadaver however includes, the liver, pancreas, intestines, lungs, bones, bone marrow, skin and corneas. The entire body could even be donated to science for anatomic research.
Regardless, this once upon a time human becomes a body of unwanted waste, soon after the spirit in it departs. All of the ceremonies conducted during burials, dropping of flowers at the tomb during anniversaries, basically is in honor of someone, who becomes physically unaware of happenings herewith.
It doesn’t matter if I am thrown to the wolves after my demise, my spirit would be gone to the appropriate chambers.
Clearly, all of the amassed wealth, Professional Certifications, presumed knowledge, the beautiful skin or face, would be reduced to ash.
Meanwhile, dig this; No achievement is worth the life of the next person, since we all owe death a price of our lives. Luxuries aren’t to be cherished so much that it hurts the next person before we can take possessions of it.
The thin line between life and death could be thwarted within the spate of a second; scary as it is, is enough reason to live like tomorrow is not guaranteed.
Live a good and exemplary life. Honesty is very important. Make an impact in the life of the next person, but be sure to make it positive. Live right and accordingly, devoid of chaos and hate.
Life is short. Hence, be swift to take a walk from whatever makes you unhappy. Your soul would thank you for doing that.
Unapologetically do what pleases you, as long as you feel it is right and godly. Take charge of your life, and be sure to keep procrastination at bay. Because, every 24 hours brings us closer to the grave. The ‘6’ feet long home we all would occupy one day.
Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed!
A meme even once has it about the evil deeds of human that;
People had better start acting right, we are tired of having to lie at their tomb.
Everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die.
My heart goes all out to the over a hundred Nigerian Soldiers killed on Monday, 19thNovember 2018 by the terrorist group, Boko Haram.
So also 37 year old Tosin Bucknor, who bowed out of this planet a few days ago.
