Notes on Sunday; Fruit of the spirit

 Despite varying food types that exists amongst diverse cultures across the globe, regular intake of natural ‘stuffs’ like fruits remain the best. Those who consume more of fruits and vegetables are at a reduced risk of contracting chronic diseases.
High in fiber content, Fruit lowers cholesterol; it increases the feelings of fullness and contributes to weight loss overtime. It is also loaded with anti oxidant that fights free radicals that can damage cells etc
The above importance of physical fruits to health best explains that of the fruit of the spirit in Christ as analyzed in Gal 5;19; There are Nine of them.
We have to let these qualities be the manual that guides our Christian faith. It’ll not only rejuvenate our spirit, but assures us of utmost peace of mind to live through this life of stress;
“But the fruit of the spirit is;
·        LOVE;                     Love radiates and being in love naturally makes the brain to release Oxytocin , a ‘loving’ hormone also called the ‘feel good’ hormone which makes us happy;
Biblically defining Love further; it is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no records of wrongs. 1Cor 13;4-5
In furtherance to this too; Matt 22; 36-40;
36-Master, which is the great commandment in the law.
37-Jesus said unto him, thou shall love the lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul and with thy entire mind.
 38- This is the first and great commandment;
39- And the second is like unto it, thy shall love thy neighbor as thyself.
40-On these two commandments hand all the law and the prophets.

·        JOY;                This is described as a feeling of great pleasure and happiness. The many ills in life are often overwhelming such that it seems difficult to be joyous over nothing, when indeed it is the secret to remaining youthful even.

 Rom 14; 17-For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
Phil 4-4; rejoice in the lord always, again I say rejoice

·        PEACE;            This is freedom from disturbances of life and tranquility, evident in
Col 3;13- ‘let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. So also strive to be at peace with all men to have a fun filled and fulfilled life.

Heb 12; 14- make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy. Without holiness no one will see God.

·        LONGSUFFERING; this is like having a greater level of endurance to people and scenarios, showing patience in spite of troubles especially the ones caused by others to us.

Ephesians 4;2-with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love.

·        GENTLENESS;  is the quality of being kind, tender or mild mannered;
 Eph 4;2- with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love

·        GOODNESS;  is simply being morally good or virtuous;

Gal 6; 10   ‘Do not overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good’ .
 Now that is goodness.

·        FAITH; A very broad topic but summed up to mean that we should have a complete trust or confidence in God.

 Heb11;1- now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen

·        MEEKNESS; the condition of being totally submissive to the orders and stated rules in the bible.
Psalm 22; 26- the meek shall eat and be satisfied, they shall praise the lord that seek him, your heart shall live forever.
Mat 5; 5- blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

·        TEMPERANCE; this is purely self control, moderation or voluntary self restrain from ills, evil actions or thoughts, habitual indulgence etc. Temperance in Christ is refraining from fornication for instance, alcohol consumption, etc.

2Pet 1;6- and to knowledge temperance, and to temperance patience, and to patience godliness.
 2tim 1;7- For the spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but give us power, love and self discipline;

With fruit of the spirit like patience, long suffering and meekness clearly synonyms, exactly the way we have orange, lemon and oranges as the citrus, they all serve the same purpose, possess them all as Christians.

Have a fabulous week
