Politics today; About Theresa May’s resignation




That the Prime Minister of Britain, Theresa May has resigned is no longer a thing on the internet. On the 24th of May, 2019 however, she handed over as a Conservative Party Leader and on the 7th of June, a successor would be chosen.

Meanwhile, being the second female Prime Minister after Margaret Thatcher, Theresa May’s firmness especially has either endeared her to some, or made her a subject of ridicule to others. Whichever way, I personally admired her leadership style as against what is applicable in an African setting; this is despite being faulted over Brexit failure.

In as much as I always take caution when judging shoes that I am not in, the UK being a part of the UE is not a today happenstance. So Brexit might not be as instantaneous as craved, and that the challenges encountered in trying to dissociate might be one that is posing too difficult.

NB; for those who might not understand the last paragraph, the English people are angry, majority of them that has voted wants their country to dissociate from the European Union before the next general Elections. Brexit is actually a coined acronym for Britain exits.
           
Unfortunately, a Prime Minister not being able to deliver Brexit ensures that the PM stops being a favorite. Exactly what happened to Theresa May.

Well, in as much as there is no such thing as best system, it is very hard to find a Government that would not be faulted, at least by a minority. There should be more good deeds to look in the way of Theresa May, in comparison to what is applicable in my home country.

I listened to her farewell speech and I was touched. She was almost in tears that were later dubbed ‘crocodile’ by some people, but from here I see a non Nigerian who though tried all she could do in her capacity to please her people, her best was clearly not enough and she resigned.

Talking about relinquishing a position, one that she could have held on to for as long as she keeps winning elections, as there are no Presidential term limits in Britain.

Without dwelling much on what must have transpired during her tenure which was briskly short, Leaders in this part of the world are advised to take a cue from her to gear up their level of sensitivity from the populace. They are meant to leave when the ovation is loudest, especially when hate and inconvenience is beginning to brew. Governance is a call to serve, and when what is being served is becoming sour to those being served, let the service be thrown to the trash can for a new breed of ‘server’, and let others rule.

Dad and the thought of Karma

  I didn’t think my dad a great personality, until I became an adult and I began to understand some of his actions and how distinctive of a trait that they were. One of such is his hatred for being caught up in a  karmic situation. Either we suffer for personal misdeeds, or as a result of the karma from a generational wrong doing, he always wants to live right. He is undesirous of causing anyone pain or tears, most especially when he is in a position of authority and/or power over them. Dad would rather be at loggerheads with superiors over victimization especially, and honestly, I found me in same shoes, even though unconsciously.
