Meet the Greens

Image
Today is about the greens and an insight into their over three decades of marital bliss. Rosalind Louise Green  is a social media friend, and we belonged to a group of common interest, the  ‘Read and Write Community’  by author and motivational speaker, Lisa Nichols, now (Lisa Nichols Community Connect). Recently however, she and  Ronnie Green  (her hubby) celebrated their 34 years of a blissful union and I could not help but have a scheduled interview. Oh well, I was able to do that with the wife, so excerpts; Titipetral:   “How did you two meet? “ Mrs Rosalind Green:  “ My husband and I met at church. It was during a time that I was one thousand percent not looking for anything close to a relationship because I had just gotten out of one that I knew was not good for me. I had just made a decision to totally sell out to God and recommit everything within me to Him. So, even though I had little heart flutters when I first saw Ron, I did everythi...

APRIL FULL

Image
There is this thrill that accompanies the month of   April   for me especially, and it has been like that for as long as I can remember. The reason is not far-fetched anyways, every  12th   of April  is my birth anniversary. And since I became a volunteer for  I am Voices Nigeria  (a Non Governmental Organization that speaks against the menace of  Sexual abuse violence) , I have come to love  April  the more. And for your information, it is the global  Sexual Abuse Awareness Month (SAAM)  too. Needless to say I particularly feel the need, to gleefully spend as much as the weight of my pocket can afford on me, every  April. Meanwhile, the  first day in  this month is generally referred to as  April fool’s day . A day that is known for tricks and fooling of one another. And I must confess, I have had my fair share with just one event clearly standing out of the lot. It was in the year  2007  as a thi...

My blind date experience.

Image
I had no clue the right turn of phrase to use. A  blind date  or a  blind meeting-up , so take the caption as it were and just read on. It was in the year  2006,  and only a relatively fewer people owned phones with special features like  camera, audio-music, etcetera. Most of the populace owned the ‘torch-light phones like the ‘heavy’  Nokia brands, siemens ,  Motorola  and the usually flip silver-colored  Samsung  which I owned. Notwithstanding, we were happy. And by reason of the type of phones that we used, we couldn’t do more than putting a call through and receiving, after which the exchange of smses were our model chats. Then the snake and ladder, building a castle games especially kept us busy too.                                                       The phone...

Northern youths as horrible neighbours

Image
Without any doubt,  I am not a tribalistic. All the same, it is important that I  began this write-up  with the notification above, just so my reader would realise that I am actually being  as objective as possible. In any case and as a preacher of the unity of  every tribe and tongue in Nigeria,  I still live daily, trying to convince my brain of the genuineness of the ‘ One Nigeria’  slogan. But unfortunately, the  practices and manners  at which youths from the Northern part of the country parades themselves has left me with no other option, than to believe us a s incompatible tribe  that was only  irrationally  merged by  Governor Fredrick Luggard. Because, why and how tongues so  extreme and mentally-opposed  as the  Northern  and the  Southern  protectorate would be merged together as a nation, still baffles me. Truth be told, apart from the  highly exposed  and  ed...
